Steps, Nebia and Groove’N’Move present a Hip-Hop All Style Dance Battle at Nebia, that opens the theatre space to urban dance culture.
In the Exhibition Battle, the dancers face each other in one-on-one encounters. The action takes place in a cypher – a circle rooted in hip-hop culture that creates closeness, exchange and direct interaction. Short rounds give rise to improvised solos shaped by music, individual style and precise movement control. The audience and the jury follow the flow of the battle and decide who advances to the next round.
The four breaking artists with different stylistic backgrounds – including Breaking, Hip-Hop, Whacking and Electro – have just a few minutes per round to show their skills and progress step by step towards the final round.
A unique highlight is the participation of the Lloydscompany Breaking Artists at the battle: B-Boy Junior as a breaker and Maikel Walker as a juror!
