Institutions meet the independent scene, contemporary dance meets breaking: «Fine Lines» and «Power: Still Going Strong» brings together two choreographies from different artistic backgrounds. Two women whose encounter gets under your skin; two men who have made history with their story. Both pieces are now making their way to Switzerland for the first time and will share an evening together as part of Steps.

The duet «Fine Lines», choreographed by the Spaniard Roser López Espinosa, was created in collaboration with two dancers from the Swedish Skånes Dansteater. It shows two extraordinary women who, in their dance, trace the fine lines of connection that exist between us humans.

They show how different we are - and how close we can still be. «Fine Lines» is a tender ode to diversity and a powerful call to celebrate each other (more).
The two Dutchmen Lloyd Marengo and Maikel Walker and the Frenchman Bosila Banya alias B-Boy Junior are among the pioneers of the breaking scene and inspire countless dancers worldwide. «Power: Still Going Strong» brings Maikel Walker and B-Boy Junior together on the same stage for the first time. What distinguishes them from each other is their age and their physicality. What unites them are incredible moves and an infectious energy. Together, they tell their life stories – from childhood to the present day.

Simply put: Two pieces can be seen on this evening. «Fine Lines» is a duet by two women. One is in a wheelchair, the other is not. The play shows how different we are. And how close we can be. Even if we are very different. «Power: Still Going Strong» is a hip-hop song by two men. Both are veterans of the hip-hop scene. One dancer is older than the other. They tell their life stories together.
