The celebrated dance company from Sweden is back at Steps! They have merged two pieces into one outstanding double bill:«ima» by France-based choreographer Sharon Eyal and «Spirit Willing», a new creation by Tiffany Tregarthen and David Raymond from Canada. This unique combination is undoubtedly a promising gem of current international dance creation.

Sharon Eyal’s unmistakable style is also reflected in her latest choreography for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani. Precision, sensuality and intensity also characterise this work – her most personal creation to date. The title gives the direction away: «ima» means mother in Hebrew. Accompanied by pulsating electronic music by French composer Josef Laimon, a hypnotic maelstrom creates an immersive experience.

Tiffany Tregarthen and David Raymond’s choreographic signature is influenced by their artistic journey together over the past two decades. Always on the lookout for new forms of expression and movement languages, the two have recently developed into one of the most sought-after duos. They will create their first work for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani in autumn 2025, which will be performed alongside «ima» in Switzerland in March 2026.

Simply put: The evening consists of two parts. One piece is called «ima». It is a new choreography by Sharon Eyal. Ima means mother in Hebrew. It is a personal work on the subject of connection and loss. Tiffany Tregarthen and David Raymond have created the second piece. The two come from Canada. They are working with the dance company from Gothenburg for the first time.
