Introductions and follow-up talks are part of the varied accompanying programme of Steps. They offer audiences a closer look at the dance works presented and open up new perspectives – both before and after the performance.
Which formats are available is indicated in the schedule and programme using the corresponding icons.
The work introduction offers a short spoken insight into the dance piece. It introduces key themes, working methods and background information, providing an immediate and personal introduction before the performance.
The movement-based introduction invites audiences to get to know a dance piece through movement. Simple movements and central choreographic themes are explored together, making the work directly accessible. This can create a personal connection to the piece – and individual elements may later be recognised on stage. No prior experience is required.
The movement-based introduction usually takes place in the foyer, lasts 15 to 20 minutes, and is open in format.
Participation is spontaneous.
The follow-up talk offers the opportunity to engage in conversation with the artists. Impressions can be shared, questions asked and aspects of the production explored in greater depth. The talk takes place on stage or in the foyer.
Duration: up to 30 minutes
