The Migros Culture Percentage Dance Festival Steps brings dancers from all over the world to Switzerland. But these stars cannot only be seen on stage, they can also be met in rehearsals. In cooperation with local dance schools, Migros Culture Percentage Dance Festival Steps organises special workshops for professional dancers in Switzerland.

“Improvisation and spontaneously created compositions”
The aim of this workshop is to develop a conscious presence while improvising in a performance. Each element of the workshop begins with exercises to examine the relationships between thought, movement and presence in the immediate surroundings. Building on that, structured and free assignments will be given. Participants will improvise using elements such as dance, music, text, and light.

Participants will have an opportunity to gain an insight into the working process of the production “All is You”. After contemporary training, they will learn movement sequences from “All is You”. They will be given improvisation exercises that have also been used during the production phase. New material will hence be created.

Katherina Christl’s workshop will be dedicated to the relationship between dance and architecture; a concept that is present in most of F. Flamand’s creations. By means of improvisation, the space will be actively used and elements of it will be incorporated in the dance.
